Argentina - Land of mate
There are few things you notice straight away in Argentina. The first one is the sound of Spanish. It’s very different not only to the European version but also to the dialects of neighbouring countries. And I love that sound. The melody is a little bit different. Especially the men make it sound sexy. As if they were encouraging you to engage in a conversation, or maybe even challenging. They pronounce the “ll” differently. It’s not like the “y” or even “j”, it sounds like P

Café Tortoni, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Yes, it is a bit of a lure for tourists. They do a Tango evening, they advertise what famous people have been spending time there. This is how I found out that Gombrowicz and Rubinstein were among the guests. The café has been open since about 1858 and it was frequented by many artists since. The culture and creativity seep through every corner. I must say the Tango evening was great, the food amazing and the atmosphere unforgettable. There is nothing more emotional than Tang

Den Gamle Avlsgard, Ribe, Danmark
Admittedly I haven't stayed there overnight, we only had an event there. It's a very different place. Everything is green. There is space for meditation, yoga and I think they are building a tree house. All the food is organic and prepared by the people who work there. Although they probably feel more like a family rather than employees. One thing that didn't go my way - they don't really have tea there. Coffee was fine, tea didn't pass some kind of test. Anyway, lovely place

KGB and Museum of Occupation, Tallinn, Estonia
So, there are two places in Tallinn you can emerge yourself in Soviet history. One is on the top floor of the first skyscraper in Estonia, Hotel Viru. It used to serve the KBG as their secret quarters when spying on guests. You can see the place on a guided tour you book in reception, they are in English as well. The guide tells you the whole history of how the hotel was actually built with the purpose of spying already in mind. They will tell you all about the tricks and sle

Robben Island - UNESCO Heritage Site
It is one of those places that shouldn’t be taken lightly. The whole tour on the island takes about 4 hours, in which you will find out about the prisoner’s lives in there, including the most famous of them, Nelson Mandela. The last political prisoners left from Robben Island in 1991 and the prison closed in 1996. The island itself was always used as means of isolation of unwelcomed individuals. Apart from prison, there was a leper colony and an animal quarantine station. You

Monteverde Zip Line, Costa Rica
Also called Canopy Lines. I did not know the concept until I went to Costa Rica. They organize it in many places but the ultimate one, with the highest altitude above ground is definitely Monteverde. The whole idea is now well known, you just get in a harness and zip on the lines from one tree to another One of the cables hangs 130m above the ground, so you can really observe the jungle from the tree tops. You don’t have to have any special skills, you just make sure you foll
